Impressions of the Ranges - Oil on Canvas - 100 x 75 cm $485 each       Stephen Phillis Stephen was born in Scotland in 1947 and studied at the Newport Art College in South Wales prior to migrating to Australia in 1965.  He has been an accomplished painter in both oil and acrylic since the 1970's having won the Cardiff Art Prize in 1970 and over the decades has held numerous solo exhibitions and been in many group exhibitions. His work is held in prestigious collections World wide and in Australian Gallery collections including Castlemaine and Sale Regional Galleries.  Stephen's impressionist expressive paintings depict an 'idea' of a place and time without the formalities and restrictions of a photographic representation. It is the essence of the scene that he strives for through the use of bold colours and strokes.
