 Michael Leeworthy
Michael, one of six children, was born in Glenhuntly Victoria in 1948.
He is a Gallery and Commission Artists who has been painting and drawing most of his life. A good part of his career was spent as a window dresser, running his own successful business for many years, dressing some of the top fashion houses in and around Melbourne.
These days Michael chooses to live and work from Red Hill on the Mornington Peninsular and is actively involved in community projects. He has been an integral part of "Art Red Hill", an annual art show, as the Artistic Director he has designed the layout and hung the exhibits in the show for nearly twenty years.
His natural creative flair is also an important part of his work as a decorator. Michael's eclectic talents include Decorative finishes applied to walls and furniture. He includes Trompe L'Oeil and Murals in his repertoire.
Michael has held several solo and joint exhibitions of his paintings in Melbourne, Regional and Mornington Peninsula Fine Art Galleries.
Michael was encouraged to paint seriously in the 80's by Wesley Penberthy, Norman Lindsay's only student. He told Michael to "GO FOR IT" meaning Michael had the passion, the rest would come.
Apart from a short stint with Wesley and watercolourist Tony Prout, Michael is unashamedly self taught.
