Kris Peter
Passion about the environment and the beauty of the Surf Coast are her key inspirations. Kris's painting subjects vary from a simple gum leaf, shell or sweep of beach to the intricacy suggested by her delicate, yet strong bird paintings. Kris hopes to share her joy in the simplicity and beauty of natural objects with us. She is also involved in working with Australian birds in a truly hands-on way, and finds it rewarding, and it certainly adds to life experience.
Kris received runner-up twice at AGRA's exhibitions during 2008 and consequently was invited to enter the Australian Art Excellence Awards, followed by 2 commendations in 2009 - leading to receipt of a Certificate of Recognition from AGRA. She has successfully exhibited at suburban & country art shows, Camberwell Rotary and Victorian Artists Society. During 2008 Kris shared with master airbrush artist Steve Feely to stage "Surfcoast Fresh" at Torquay and in late 2009 shared in a very successful exhibition entitled "Vivid: Images of Africa & Australia" with Alison Clark and Sandra Dare AGRA.
Kris joined the Council of AGRA in late 2008, and is working to enlarge her contribution to the Guild and the community in general by this involvement. She is a member of Wildlife Art Society Australasia, Birds Australia and is a supporter of IFAW, Sea Shepherd and Bush Heritage.
Kris donates a % of her proceeds to support International Fund for Animal Welfare. This charity actively works to support animals world-wide, their habitat and where possible the surrounding communities to promote greater harmony and benefit all.
