John Bredl

John Bredl is a self taught artist who grew up on the Murray River in Renmark, South Australia. In 1990 he began painting full time. Highly acclaimed, John has won many major awards and his articles have appeared in Australian Artist magazine. His work hangs in many private collections worldwide and throughout Australia.
John paints on location in the initial phase to experience the landscape. From the reds of the outback through the blue greens of the Mornington Peninsula and to rugged mountain scenes from the Australian high country, he endeavours to capture the great expanse and light which is typical of Australia. A dedicated artist who has developed his art to a very high standard, Bredl has built on his considerable natural talents to reach a point where he can exercise new techniques and develop a more rewarding form to his artistic expression.
Now in a new phase of his painting career, he is drawing more on emotional than intellectual awareness and the works show a fresh passion and new intensity in both craftsmanship and creativity. John has introduced some large works which mix three dimensional objects into the two dimensional format creating a relief effect which gives a greater sense of movement in the paintings. This technique has created a great deal of interest from fellow artists and keen followers of his work.
In 2006 his work was exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair London and Art Ireland in Dublin. Paintbox London also exhibits his work.
‘My goal in art is to capture the essence of the moment. Each of my paintings represents a step forward in the application of technique and skill; in the task of translating what I feel as I view a scene, and putting it onto the canvas. Capturing light in my compositions is a constant challenge and I look to my idols – von Guerard, Buvelot, Streeton and Heysen for inspiration.’
John is a regular exhibitor at "Old Post Office Seymour".
